MIXTAPES, SUPPER CLUB | Fhior, Edinburgh

Fhior announces new experiential supper club series, Mixtapes. This is a series of innovative supper clubs for up to ten people, in the restaurant's private dining space. The monthly changing menu will feature a compilation of classics, new releases and one-hit seasonal wonders, showcasing rare and more unique ingredients that are in too short supply to be used on the main menu.  

Recently I headed to Edinburgh to go to my first ever private dining experience at the newest supper club concept called Mixtapes at Fhior (Fhior is a scandi-inspired Scottish restaurant located in Edinburgh).

This is a concept conjured by Chef Scott Smith, a chef with a reputation and passion for showcasing the best of Scottish ingredients and produce.

Mixtapes is an opportunity for the chef to showcase new dish ideas and experimental ingredient combinations to food enthusiasts like ourselves!

The experience has 8 courses with bits and bobs on the side, along with welcome drinks and wine pairings. Chef Scott Smith shared his ideation and processes with every dish served, while a master sommelier shared his knowledge on the wines and why they were chosen to match each dish.

I loved the dishes we tried, and especially the opportunity to try very new things like whipped buttermilk (which had a sticky consistency but was strangely spicy in flavour) and Brunost (a brown Norwegian cheese), and to try the perfect marriage of flavour combinations like pork with pumpkin, coffee and miso.

It was an intimate experience shared with others who appreciate food, I really enjoyed it!

The Mixtapes supper club will land at £160pp, which I know is a bit on the higher side but what you get in return is a unique experience with new food and drinks, chances to chat with the chefs, and to have intimate conversations with other enthusiasts in the room.
