3 Days 2 Nights cost breakdown for our trip to Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland

Welcome to my 3 Days 2 Nights cost breakdown for our trip to Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland.
After sharing my trip to Isle of Barra on my social media, I've received questions about how much it costs to have a weekend getaway at Isle of Barra, so here’s a full cost breakdown including flight, accommodation, bike rental and food:

Flight
A return flight with Logan Air from Glasgow Airport to Isle of Barra Airport
- When: End of July
- Price per person: £164.42

Accommodation
Shepherds Hut at Wavecrest Campsite at Borve, Isle of Barra
- Price per night: £50 + £5 Extra Linen
- Price per person: £52.50
- Details: The glamping hut has 2 bunk beds and a sofa bed, perfect to fit 2-4 people. There's a kettle and running water (not for drinking), and there are communal showers paid by coins and a communal kitchen with microwave. The campsite is also dog-friendly and dogs stay for free.

Bicycle Rental
We booked bicycles from Barra Bike Hire to get around the island instead of booking a car or taking public transport.
- Price for 2 Bikes for 3 Days = £88
- Delivery to Airport = £15
- Pick up from Airport = £15
- Total for bicycle rental = £118
- Price per person = £59
- Details: They have a variety of options when it comes to renting bicycles including normal, hybrid and electric. The bicycle rental includes everything you need for travel including emergency tool kits and helmets. You can call the Barra Bike Hire owners in case of emergencies or help. Find more details about pricing, bookings and enquiries here.

Food & Drinks
While visiting Isle of Barra, we both set aside £50 per person for our food and drinks budget. Which means we had £100 to spend. Here are some things we bought within our food budget:
- Isle of Barra Distillers Atlantic Gin 20cl: £16
- Isle of Barra Distillers Strawberry & Ginger Gin Liqueur: £22
- Dinner at Castlebay Hotel: £20 per person
- Groceries and snacks from the local store: £22

Exploring Isle of Barra
= FREE & PRICELESS!
Here are some locations we explored that you should bookmark:
Total cost per person
Here is the total cost per person for 3 days and 2 nights in Isle of Barra:
- Price per person: Flight £164.42 + Barra Bike Hire £59 + Accommodation £52.50 + Food £50 = £325.92
I hope this is helpful for those of you who were curious about how much we spent. Yes, it is definitely pricier than some budget weekend getaways in Europe, but Scotland is worth exploring!
You can definitely be more frugal with your budget compared to us. We were able to afford £300+ per person and decided to add extras like staying in the shepherds hut, the delivery and collection of bicycles to and from the airport, the dinner at a hotel and the gins from the gin distillery, but you can easily opt out of those things to reduce costs (eg. purchasing foods from Coop or local corner shops and camping in tents) which will help make your trip even more budget-friendly!
